Justin:
"Rascal isnt really a cow horse, but he does work great around them. he is built for speed and grace. my sister Brayden did try him out in our old arena on the outstretch of Perfect Harmony Ranch. he was actually really good. and you will be one of a kind because no one will be riding an appaloosa gelding in the competition." i said to Trill, "but you can ride Panda if you want to."

Trillium: "She does need work..." i decided that it would probably be best to go over the routine with Pandora, since she would be my horse for the competition. she already knew some of the trickier bits, besides. I tied Rascal in the shade of a big grove of cottonwoods near the outdoor watering trough, and hurried inside to saddle Pandora. she was dozing peacefully in her stall. "Wake up, girl!" i sang merrily, snagging her halter with a leadrope and bringing her over to the crossties. "We have some riding to do!"

Justin:
i stopped Eagle and sat under the shade next to Rascal who was starting to fall asleep. he lifted one foot up and lowered his head. i waited outside for Trill to come out with Panda to show me her routine. i looked around her Mr. Berryhill so that he wouldnt see me with Trill/Francy. he would think i was cheating on Trill when i was actually not. i whistled and to make sure yelled, "come on Francy, how am i supposed to help you with your Dressage Routine when you wont get out here!"

Trillium: i let Panda accept the bit- she never complained- unhitched the crossties, adn swung into the saddle. "I'm vright here, Justin!" i called in my affected accent, though i somehow doubted that Milton would leave Berryhill when the steeplechase course was still under construction. "Let's gvo over to ze arena!"

Justin:
i heard Francy call back. "ok." i said and leaned over and rested my hands on his mane. i let out a yawn and waited for Francy.

Trillium: I gave Panda a nudge and the foot cue she had been trained to respon with a piaffe to, and we shasayed out of the stables. Panda was practically dancing. "Tally Ho!" i cried as we pranced past.

Trillium: i leaned down from the saddle, unlatched the gate, and then walked Pandora in. she was perfectly behaved, as always, and actually gave a big yawn before it cued her to begin the serpentine at M that started our pattern.

Trillium: i mouthed the steps to myself through a slackened jaw- i would have to break the habit eventually, but it helped for now. "trot one-two-three to E re-verse, step back, back back, half-circle to D to P to X, me-zair..." this was my first trick in the routine. while i wasn't quite ready for courbette or cabriole, Panda was well-trained enough to get the balance for the short rear/paw maneuver. i then cantered the center line, making sure that Pandora was realxed enough. her variegated tail swung to and fro, a sign of relaxation that was sure to earn me points. i nodded to the imaginary judge at C, turned, and completed a M-S half pass with a flying lead change. it felt good to ride.
