Mary Anne: Besides my lethargic canter on Bob, I had never galloped before, let alone raced! "You're on!!! " I shoued to Arin, and I nudged Fortune into a breathtaking gallop.

Sydney: It was so great to be riding again! Was I ready to gallop again though? "Let's go!" I shouted as I taped my heals to June's sides. And just like the dream horse she was, she began to fly down the trail.

Mary Anne: Arin, Sydney, and I raced neck and neck down the smoothed, flat trail. My hair whipped out of my face. For some reason, I wasn't afraid of falling off... until I saw the stream runing across the trail! "Watch out! They might try to jump it!" I bellowed, and clutched the reins for dear life.

Sydney: Riding a horse over a jump shouldn't be scary for an event rider. But I wasn't sure I was comfortable with the idea of jumping so soon. I focused on my horse, I either needed to slow her down, or set her up for the jump. The distance was closing fast... OOC: Looooooove the suspense!!

Arin: our three horses, black, grey, and sorrel, surged down the trail. but... the creek! Mary Anne had never jumped before. Sydney hadn't ridden for a year... but she used to be a pro. i decided to save the rookie, and grasped the reins near fortune's bit as we neared the creek. she skidded to a stop. wait... somthing big was coming through the trees, straight at Sydney and June! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Owen: the horse under me charged out of the woods. there was a trail in sight... but, wait! riders... jumping the creek that ran across the path... we were headed for a side collision. i gave one last jerk on the flipped reins, and finally freed them from the horse's nose. i yanked him to a sliding stop mere inches from the grey jumper. "Be more coareful!" i shouted, making the nervous thoroughbred shy at the sound of my voice.

Mary Anne: Arin had probably just saved my life, or my pride at least! But, just as I was about to thank her and re-assure fortune, a horse and rider leapt from the underbrush and managed to stop inches from Sydney and June! "Be more careful!!!" shouted the rider. Well, who the heck did he think he was?!?! He almost killed Syd and June! "ExCUSE me?" I shouted at him.

Sydney: June was still going for the jump but she had sidesteped when the horse ran out of the woods and I was off balance in the saddle as she began to take off. I had been saved by one miracle today, what were the chances of two? But years of training kicked in, I pulled myself upright in the saddle and prepared for the landing that followed. When June landed, she came to a soft stop before turning aroud to stare at the stranger that had nearly run us over. Most horses in the situation would have completely freaked out. But June, obviously scared, kept her head and didn't shoot into a panic mode. "What do you mean, telling us to be more carefull! At least we were the ones ON the trail not galloping across it! From the looks of your horse, you were out of control until just a second ago, now who do you think should be more careful?" I was mad at the stranger that had almost gotten me and my new horse killed. Not only that, I was scared! As an event rider I'd had my share of falls, but I was not looking forward to a collosion of horse and rider at a gallop. There was no possible survival of that fall, and thats what scared me.

Arin: "yeah, what's the big idea?" i said, letting go of fortune's reins and trotting up to the guy on the horse. it was very tall, throwing its head and dancing about. "it's sydney's first day back for, like, two years. you could have gotten her killed!" Owen: "oh, my goodness, i am so sorry!" i exclaimed, running a hand through my tousled brown hair. i drew a short rein on the thoroughbred, and he finally stopped his prancing. "i was trying to give this one some practice in a strange environment, to get him ready for new tracks. we were going fine until the reins flipped up, over the nose band, and he went ballistic. i just now got them free." i said, all in one breath. all three girls just looked at me, looking as if they would like to see me trampled. the freisan looked as if he was about to do just that. "green horse... not much training..." i said, in a pathetic attempt to excuse myself.

Sydney: I was still mad, and a little shakey. Pull it together I told myself. I did my best to do just that, giving June a pat on the neck did just as much to relax me as it did her. Part of me wanted to be nice to this guy who was probably just as scared as we had been. The other half saw me and my new friends tearing the guy to shreads for scaring us. OOC: Couldn't think of what to actually say..!

OOC: 's fine! Arin: "welll... we forgive you." i said testily. my anger telegraphed down the reins to blackthorne, who looked like he was going to take a bite out of that young wippersnapper of a thoroughbred. then i heard hoofbeats... Katie: i came galloping up on Baroque Flashback. "what's the trouble?" i asked, having heard shouts. Owen: i recognized the lady from one of our yearling sales. "uh, hello... miss sterling, is it? i'm owen lahey, and i help train at Berryhill racing stables. i was excercising this horse, and i guess i accidentally crossed over into your trail system. we had a bridle malfunction, and almost toppled miss...uh... sydney, here." i said, trying to sound polite and apologetic. Katie: "well, you're forgiven." i said, taking pity on the poor guy. "you can come to the stables whenever you need to." though Milton Berryhill was my local archrival in business, i liked owen. already. the other girls would too, eventualy, i thought. OOC: i smell a big competition in the air!

OOC: I know! we need some boyfriends I'm thinking about making one. "Sydney Mitchell's the name. This is June and I forgive you too. Green horses can be difficult to control. Especially in a scary situation." I couldn't help liking the guy a little even though he'd practically killed me. If Katie knew and liked him, he must be ok.

Owen: "Sydney Mitchell... cool. i'm glad to see you're riding again!" i siad, not a bit surprised. i had hypothesized that she would go back to eventing... but popping up here, in little ol' nevada?! Arin: "nice to meet you, owen. i'm arin doherty, and this is Blackthorne Shilleaughs." i patted black thorne's neck, and he tossed his head, his bad mood still present. "he doesn't like other stallions at all. what's your horse's name?" Owen: "nice to meet you, arin. i honestly forgot to ask. Mr. Berryhill just calls him 'the maniac.' now, who is this-" i motioned to the younger girl sitting on a pretty spanish horse, looking quite frightened of the maniac.

Mary Anne: I finally regained my voice after Katie had galloped up and that CUTE fellow on the thuroughbred had profusely apologized for his mistake. I'm always intimidated by guys, especially horseback-riding ones with tousled chestnut hair and sparkilng eyes... stop it Mary Anne, STOP IT!!!!!!!! "I'm Mary Anne Mallory, and this is Fortune's Orchestra. She's a Paso Fino, and this is my first time riding without a longeline." Oh, why had I let that slip out? I was with Arin, who was on a rare, beautiful, stallion, Katie, who owned an entire first-class stable full of horses, and Sydney, who was... THE Sydney Mitchell. Me and my big fat mouth!

Owen: "nice to meet you, Mary anne. i hope you're enjoying your freedom." i said to the nervous girl. "Fortune looks like a great horse. she could teach maniac a thing or two. me? i'm still looking for a horse to buy for myself. i haven't yet found the perfect one."
