Mary Anne: I had saddled Piper with much difficulty, seeing as he had danced- I mean, literally, DANCED- around with excitement and inpatience. Once I had figured out the sundry straps, buckles, and paraphernilia of a dressage saddle and bridle, I cantered off into the woods, enjoying Piper's perfect gaits. I found a round clearing, enclosed from all sides, save but a trail running into and out of it, but majestic pines. I plugged into my iPod, clicking the wheel around in the saddle, despite the hopping of Piper, until I found "Curran Event"- an eclectic, Gaelic-reggae song from Triniyy Irish Dance Company that I had got from Arin. I tried to mimic the fancy dressage moves I had read about online, giving muddled cues that Piper ignored completely. Instead, he did a little jig, bouncing from one foot to the other like the ground was on fire. I'm sure I was a sight. The thought of my ridiculous-ness had just crossed my mind when I heard cantering hoofbeats in the forest!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theo: Aha! A clearing where nobody would steal my secret routine... now if I could just think of what music to put it to... I watched closely as something large and floaty-looking pranced through the clearing... it appeared to be one of the miscellaneous Sterling girls onan AMAZING mulberry-bay Andalusian stallion! My adversary? Quite possibly. I couldn't hear the music, but it was probably a "Saddle Club Singers" song. EEEWWWWW. Suddenly, Inky shifted her weight, and a twig snapped! The grl looked up...

Mary Anne: Somebody was watching me! I turned to see one of the guys from Berryhill on a beautiful chestnut Arabian with a flaxen mane. Outraged, I stopped the music. "How long have you been watching me?" I demanded.
Theo: "Sorry, I was just coming here to practice. I had no idea anybody else knew it was here!" I told the poor girl, and gave her a winning smile. "Are you doing lyrical dressage for Sterling Stables? I'm Theo Arrington, and I'm competing for Berryhill. I just don't know what my song will be, yet. Amazing horse, by the way!" The Andalusian stallion, as if to show me up, did a perfect piaffe in place.

Mary Anne: I was a bit flustered by the handsome stranger. Theo, I guess! "I'm Mary Anne, and this is Piper- his real name is An Mangaire Fain, which means the Roving Piper in Gaelic. Have you ever done this before?" I pleaded. I needed all the help I could get!
Theo: "Sure! Credo and I have done a lot of lyrical dressage!" I said to the pretty girl. "What's your song?"

Mary Anne: "It's called On Toabh Tuathail Amach" I said, obviously butchering the Gaelic name. "But I call it Curran event. If you've met Arin, who used to tour with Trinity Irish Dance Company, that was the name of the dance it was set with. It's like Gaelic reggae." I really wondered if I should be telling my adversary all of this!
Theo: "Don't worry, I won't steal it, and I won't copy routines, either! I still have no clue what song to do, so we're about on even ground- I have no clue about the music, and you don't have a clue about moves. No offense." I was worried I'd hurt her feelings!

Mary Anne: "Is it really THAT obvious?" I laughed. "But really, none taken. I like music, though. What kind do you want to do?"
Theo: "Want to hear my terrible secret?" I asked Mary Anne, surreptitiously making my eyes glance back and forth suspiciously. "I love country music. It's like a sin at Berryhill!"

Mary Anne: "Me, too! I love Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Sara Evans, and... George Strait! EVen if he is a bit old school!" I said excitedly to Theo.
Theo: "Inky likes fast songs... and no matter how good a singer Taylor Swift is, the guys would never let me live something like that down! Do you have any good ones on your iPod?" I needed to start working on this routine, and fast!
Mary Anne: "Sure! Take an earbud!" I leaned over to give him one, and suddenly felt embarassed... then, the earbud fell out of his ear, and we both reached for it! Our hands collided, both wrapping around that little white piece of plastic. A sudden and quite random vision filled my mind of myself proudly showing a herd of children an iPod, framed on the wall, and telling them, "If it weren't for that iPod, your father and I would never have fallen in love..." but I pulled myself back to the present situation. "Sorry..." I muttered as he reclaimed the miniature headphone. I flipped the wheel to 'Days Go By' by Keith Urban and unintentionally started rocking out.
Theo: For one breif instant, our hands touched, and I actually felt shy ! Me, Theo Arrington, with my notorious way with the ladies and dashing charm... We began to listen to Keith Urban's 'Days Go By', and I had an inspiration! "Hey, How about we kill two birds with one stone... I can teach you the dressage cues while we try to find a song for me!" I gestured to the spot behind the saddle for Mary Anne to climb on.
Mary Anne: The first thing I thought at this was, you've GOT to be kidding me! I would probably 1) faint off the saddle with humiliation or 2) blush the shade of an overripe tomato all the way down my arms. Or 3), both. But, against my better judgement, I grabbed Theo's very, um, muscular forearm and vaulted up behind the saddle.

Theo: "Okay, your horse is obviously an expert-" I gestured to Piper, who danced up and down in a piaffe as far as his lead rope would allow- "and you know what the moves ARE, just not how to convey them." And I proceeded to show Mary anne how to cue a piaffe, passage, lateral gait, and that running-thingy, whose name I have never quite learned.
OOC: sorry for the lack of detail here, but i really don't have a clue about how you cue any of those!!
Mary Anne: Theo said I was a fast learner, which was good, but most of those dressage moves are pretty tilty and it's difficult to balance, so, you guessed it, I spent most of the ride holding onto Theo in the sincere hope that I wouldn't fall off! Fortunately, I did not become a tomato.

Mary Anne: "Now, for a song!" I said, as I slid off Inky, who wuffeed in my face as I hit the ground. "How about 'Sweet Child 'O mine' by Guns 'n Roses?' " I looked at the surprised expression on his face and said, "What, you don't think I'm that sheltered, do you?"
Theo: "Of course not, you just don't strike me as the Guns 'n Roses type!" I laughed at her expression.
Mary Anne: "Well, people surprise you, don't they?" GAAAK!!!!!! Had I just said a MOVIE LINE???!?!?!?

Theo: Corny, yet classy, movie lines? Two could play at this game! "I guess they do... I just had to ask out of curiosity" I quoted Pirates of the Carribbean.
Mary Anne: "haha." I laughed awkwardly. Did he not become a just a little nervous in thinking that that line was uttered when Jack Sparrow was totally hitting on Elizabeth Swan? Because it certainly made ME nervous! "So, let's see your routine!" I said to break the silence.
Theo: "Okay! I'll improvise- at least for part, the moves have to match the song." I hesitated a bit, then asked, "uhhh, do you want to ride along?" The fact that I was so flustered around Mary Anne must mean something...
Mary Anne: Here we go again! "How could I say no?" I asked rhetorically, and swung back up.
