Theo: "Spoke too soon, Sydney!" I cheered as I rode in on Inky, ponying my new filly alongside. I wasn't sure what her 'registered' name would be, her secret name was already 'Sraddagh.' "Here's a Berryhill person after all!" I had been a bit behind Owen and Mike, i realized upon entering the arena, so my proclamation had been rather undeserved of the occasion. I opened the gate slowly so as not to startle any of the horses, then worked my way inside. I tied Inky on a long line at the far end of the expansive arena, where she began to lip at the grass on the other side of the fence, then jogged back, my filly's scarlet lead line going slack as she trotted after me. "Have we started yet?" I asked, taking a place in line next to Mary Anne and Owen.

Owen: "Shh!" i quited Theo, who just happened to be bellowing, and returned to watchg Dev try to itch his nose with a back hoof. the colt couldn't hold still for long; high metabolism or something, most likely. after he had successfully scratched his muzzle, he took a step back and began to test the length that his silver lead line would allow him to reach. what a amsart horse- you could tell that he and Ballerina were related.
Arin: I settled down in the corner of the arena, opposite from where Fly was pacing to and fro. i hoped that this quiet time wouldn't sully her calm demeanor this morning, but, in the long run, it would be well worth it. Trillium: i tiptoed into the ring with the lovely chestnut- Confection, i suppose- stepping daintily behind me. her darling foal frolicked alongside, not needing to be led. i found a vacant spot along the fence line, between Milly and Mike, and tied the lovely mare there. then, backpeddling in my riding boots, i took a seat in the sand to observe Confection give her foal a short tongue bath.

OOC: and just to give y'all an update.........
Milton: that was it. i dreadfully needed a break form all this blasted paperwork- I called Katie to ask what was going on at her stable. she whispered, answering "Sydney Bristow is giving a clinic for inexperienced or volatile horses- right now, everyone is observing their mounts, trying to understand them more fully." after hanging up, i simply couldn't resist the urge to exchange my pressed slacks and laquered shoes for jeans and boots, and head on out to the pasture where my new mustang was grazing. he pricked his pewter-colored ears as i approached, but otherwise seemed unperturbed. i flexed my fingers, cramped fromt typing up official registration forms- it was time to do some training.

Kale: I swung up onto my horses back adn took off at a dead run for Sterling Stables. I had missed my alarm adn was now a little late for the lesson. I got there just as Jack got there and I waved. "Seems we're both late, huh?" Jack grinned and nodded. "Well let's go." I said and rode into the arena with him, going toward Milly.
Jack: I followed Kale in and sighed in relief. It didn't look like I'd missed much. Kale and I dismounted next to Milly and looked over to Miley standing with two horses. I waved and grinned at her then turned to Milly. "What are we doing?" SHe exsplained and I nodded. "I got it." I then went over to a secluded space and did as I was supoosed to.
Milly: Kale and Jack came to stand beside me and I sighed. It was hard to concentrate with Kale so near. Jack asked what he was supposed to do then walked off away after I exsplained. I shook my head and looked at Dancer. She seemed to be laughing at me. "Hey don't laugh girl." I said and smiled. HSe tossed her head and laughed quietly. "Shh!" I siad and she nickered nudging me. I looked around to see a few people watching and blushed. "Ornery girl." I whispered and she calmed giving me the laughing look again. "Hey, Milly I'm going to over to another place that away our horses aren't getting distated with each other or anything like that. 'Kay?" I nodded and he trudged off to another part of the arena. "You're going to get me into trouble, Dancer!" The mare just tossed her mane and continued to laugh it seemed.

Sydney: After a few moments I began to make my rounds. I started with Miley, Rampage and the colt. My prediction of Rampage was the 'calm before the storm' or being on a short fuse. The colt was curious but otherwise relaxed probably due to Rampage's current state of peace. "Well Miley, how is Rampage feeling today?" I asked. OOC: I plan to 'make rounds' to everyone if that's ok with hotspot & everyone else Course, even if Syds not talking to you you should post!

Mary Anne: Syd began to make the rounds of the group, and I watched Butterfly carefully. She touched noses with Theo's filly, then gave a little snort and jumped back, as if she wanted to play with the little red dun. their long lead ropes only allowed them to run about ten feet or so away from us, at which point they would come trotting back, 'tag' one another, and repeat. "Aww, aren't they cute?" I whispered to Theo, though that wasn't a very witty or intelligent thing to say.
Theo: "We're supposed to be quiet!" I whispered back, rather sarcastically seeing as I had just come in, bellowing. "Do you have any ideas for her name?" I gestured to my filly. "Asthore doesn't really fit, and I can just imagine telling people what it means. Sweetheart isn't really the most macho name!"
Mary Anne: I pondered for a bit beofre responding, "I really don't know. Indian tribes make good names, as do obscure colors and african countries. She's kind of red, so if you don't mind her sounding like a crayon, her name could have 'Scarlet', 'Crimson', "Cinnibar", or 'brick' in it!" I winked at the last name.

Miley:
Syd had started her rounds and i was first. i studied both Rampage and Focus Flair. Rampage was calm, surprisingly. then i looked closer he had fallen asleep. his eyes were closed and his back hoof cocked. i then looked over at Flair. i walked over to him and whispered in his ear, "Footloose." he pranced in place and twitched slightly. he whinnied and then pranced behind me. i watched him and he had wandered to the back of Rampage, by his tail. (uh oh) Flair grabbed on to Rampage's thick black tall and gave it a mighty tug. i quickly grabbed Rampage's dark leather lead rope. the stallion spun around and saw that it was only Flair. he snorted it the colt's face and then smirked. he ruffled the colt's fuzzy forelock and nuzzled him, like a father. he went behind Flair and nudged him forward with his muzzle. the colt moved forward until Rampage stopped. the bay stallion looked behind himself at his tail. then looked back at Flair. the colt watched. Rampage, then shook his head 'no'. i laughed. Syd came over to me. "um, well Rampage has gotten all moushy and fatherly with Focus Flair and well Flair has grown onto Rampage. i guess the two are meant for each other. but Flair is excited and Rampage is like, 'its too early in the morning for a king like me to be up,' mood." i said and laughed at the two.

Sydney: "Very good. But notice how quickly Rampage's mood changed when Flair took hold of his tail? Just as quick, it changed back. Knowing that Rampage is on a short fuse, always be ready for that sudden change of attitude. What you did just then was perfect. You didn't over-react and cause Rampage to become any more unsettled, yet you were prepared for anything that might happen. Remember to be ready to take full control with confidence and Rampage will do exactly what he just did, he'll calm back down before something has a chance to happen." Miley had done a wonderful job of handling the situation, there was lots of hope for Rampage yet. I continued my rounds, heading towards Milly and Dancer...

Milly: I smiled as Syd walked my way and waited. AS she approached Dancer made good for her name and danced around me in anticipation of what was next. I calmed her with a word and stroked her velvety muzzle.

Sydney: "Hi Milly, how is Dancer today?" I asked, taking my own notes on the mare's disposition.

Miley:
i nodded to Syd as she walked away. i then petted both of my horses necks and then their muzzles.
Alex:
i had taken the lead rope Caden had handed me. the lead rope was attached to a sorrel mare. she was beautiful and a little bit to relaxed. when Rampage had suddenly gotten angry the mare had started backing up and looking around for something. she shook her head and drug me back toward the fence. "whoa girl, its ok everything is fine." i said and tried to soothe the mare. once she bumped into the fence she freaked. when she had finally stopped i tried to soothe her by stroking her neck. her ears moved back and forth and her eye lids opened and closed. i tried talking to her. then i thought about what her name was. "Caden, whats the mare's name?" i asked him in a calm voice.

Milly: I scratched Dancer neck and she nuzzled me. "Well she's actually being really affectionate today.- Dancer nudged me and nickered softly. '-I don't know why though. This is really my first day to be working with her."

Sydney: "She must feel a special connection to you then, and she's very eager to please you. Gentle hands will unlock many doors with this mare. You can count on it." I said with a soft smile. I then continued around to Jack and his horse. OOC: Libby, please post in the Clinic sign up thread so that Syd knows more about your characters hotspot7.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=164&page=1

Arin: i peeped through one half-closed eyelid around at the other riders- i had assumed a full-lotus yoga position, hoping to instill a sense of calm and inner peace in Fly, or whatever. she seemed to be doing much better than any other time before today. i closed my eyes again, sending my graceful Akhal-Teke calm thoughts. the next thing i knew, a huff of alfalfa-scented breath stirred my ponytail, and Fly was standing right over me, looking down at me with curious eyes. they were the color of liquid sable, and not at all skittish or flighty. i couldn't help but smile widely and gently plant a kiss on her velvet nose. so my new horse had finally acclimated to Sterling Stables!
Owen: after finishing an experiment in itching acrobatics, Dev began to get bored with just himself. the stocky, muscular colt began to start moseying this way and that, trying to make friends with the other horses. Rampage, across the aisle of vacant sand, was busy playing with Miley's chesnut foal. Dancer, to his right and fore, was busy with Sydney and Milly. Confection was nursing her foal to the left, and Fly was inspecting Arin's hair to the right. "you'll just have to wait a little, boy," i said, leaning back against the fence.
Trillium: i heard Theo and Mary Anne, as well as Alex and Caden, discussing names for their horses. i sighed, calling to mind the tale of Confection and her foal. Confection, for one, needed an extended name, and little bay was still lacking one. i was reluctant to give either a title, since they weren't at all mine, but still.... an idea suddenly popped into my head. i couldn't wait to get my hands on some craft supplies.....

Milly: I nodded and murmured a few words to Dancer after Syd walked off toward Jacky.
Jack: I nudged Warrior slightly waking him up and he lifted his head instantly alert to his surroundings. Sydney walked up and I smiled. "Hi, Sydney." I said and Warrior snortted seeming to raise his brows slightly at us.
