Ooc: Posted in Sign up sheet.
Jack: "Well he was sleeping untl I nudged him awake. Then he acted really alert. So I guess he's okay with it. Maybe bored." At that moment Warrior reached out snagging Sydney's shirt. He gave a jerk and then let go prancing slightly.

Theo: "Dawn... Sun... Flame... do any of thse have good names attatched to them?" I muttered as my filly watched Syd talk to the other horses and their riders with curiosity. I looked over at Mary Anne, hoping that she had some ideas.
Mary Anne: "Good question-- colibri means 'hummingbird' in Spanish, but I think your little girl there is too much of a tough cookie to be a hummingbird. What about alas- it means wings!"

OOC: Thanks Libby!
Sydney: I smoothed the tail of my shirt where Warrior had tugged. "Playful was the term I was going for. I bet he's a tuff cookie to keep focused! Patience is a virtue Jack." I said with a wink. Next, I went to Theo, who was trying to come up with a name for his new filly. "Hi Theo, what mood is Nameless in today?"

Owen: i noticed that Sydeny was approaching our row. "patience is a virtue, Dev," i whispered to the red colt, parroting Syndey's maxim.
Arin: i had to let out a laugh as Fly lipped at a strand of my loose hair. things were really looking up for us! and Blackhorne would be better soon, too- could life get any better than this?
Trillium: with nomenclature on my mind, i lay on my back in the sand. i caught snatches of Theo and mary Anne's conversation- "Carnelion!" i hissed in heo's direction, calling to mind the exact hue of his filly. a carnelion was a brilliant red stone- i thought that it suited well.

Alex:
i watched for Caden. he shook his head 'no'. then mouthed 'she doesnt have name.' i looked back at the flaming sorrel mare. "how about Diamond Flare?" i asked. she nickered and stepped closer to me. "its ok Dia. its ok. im here." i said and petted the mare's sweaty neck. she had finally relaxed and i began to lead her back to where i was standing with the mare. she shook like a dog and nudged me. i petted her some more. "Caden where did you get this mare?" i asked him. then i looked down the line of riders. Syd was getting closer. Miley was handling Rampage and her new colt well and they seemed to be getting along great. Caden stood with his new mare Heart Song and Justin had his large, muscular, graceful bay mare Genuine Risk. him and Risk had gone through a lot over the past several years. but Risk seemed to be healing from the bad treatment that she had gotten.

Theo: "She's curious, as always. She's adjusted to the stable quite well, but she did keep me up half the night 'talking' to all the other horses." I explained how I had slept on a cot in the stable to keep my new filly company during her first night on an enclosed space. "Do you have any good name ideas, Syd (OOC: or anybody?)? I thought I heard a ghost" --I shot a look at Trill--"whisper 'Carnelian', but it has to be longer than that, though it could have Carnelian in it. Maybe training her will be easier if we can all call her something except 'Nameless!'"

Trillium: "Can someone watch Confection and Confection jr while i go and fix my wig?" i asked, sheepishly scratching my brow where some of the coarse, black, aritficial fibers of the Francesca hairpiece. "i have some stuff in my bag, sitting in the stable."
Owen: "Go on ahead," i told Trillium, waving her off to go and pin up her faux hair. "we'll all keep an eye on them."
Arin: Fly licked me with her washcloth-like tongue- not as rough as a cat's, but lots bigger than a dog's- apparently trying to glean the remains of a granola bar i had just concumed from my hands. "you're just in the best mood today, aren't you, girl?" i asked her. She regarded me with dark eyes, rimmed by long lashes, and then mosied away back to the line of horses.

Sydney: "At the farm, we named our horses based on bits and pieces of their parent's names or something to do with their personality. Ike, was named Cultural Icon because he drew everyone's attention. Samurai was a warrior on the track, the name just fit, since his barn name had always been Sam. But if I had a filly the color of yours, I'd name her Aurora, because she's the color of the dawn."

Trillium: "aurora borealis, or aurora australis!" i piped, scooting back from the bathroom, wig securely held in place and definately more comfortable. might as well get in on the naming bee. "which mare was her mother? i think Milly's River Dancer is, so you could add something about dancing in there." i thought about what Sydney had said, about naming horses after their parents. that's what most top-of-the line breeders did, of course, Milton inculded. hence, the little bay filly that i had been caring for would need a name that combined "Confection" with... what? i had no idea who her father was, other than that he was either a black or a bay. but that was fine, too- my plan would still work.

Sydney: "Those are great name Trill! Good luck with the name Theo." I said walking towards Trill and the foal she was working with today. "So, how's this little cutie handling the strange environment?" I asked Trill.

Trillium: "she seems to be enjoying evey minute of it," i said, as Confection jr. jumped in fright at a passing dragonfly. "Her mother seems to be doing great, too- i bet it's nice to have regular meals and a safe home again, huh, girl?" i gave Confection a pat on her sleek chocolate-colored neck, in awe at how awesome it was to have daily contact with such magnificent horses.

Miley:
i looked down at Trill. she had Confection and her foal Mocha Lata, that i had named. i had found the mare and foal wondering in the woods. i looked at Rampage. the stallion stared at Focus Flair. Flair looked up at the sky. Rampage snorted and then shook. his long mane rocketed in all directions. he swished his long full tail from side to side. i reached up to Rampage's ear. "im trusting you not to flip and watch Flair." i said and then tied Flair's crimson red lead rope to Rampage's dark leather one. i dropped Rampage's lead rope. then i walked backwards toward Trill.

Theo: "Thanks, Syd and Trill! I like Aurora, Carnelian, AND something with River Dancer-- what about Presul Aurora? It's Latin for 'Aurora Dancer', and her stable name can be... Pretzel! She's kind of that color, and it sounds like Presul!" I massaged my filly's withers, glad that she finally trusted me enough to let me.

Sydney: "I have to say, I don't think this mare was completely wild." I told Trill, "She's so calm with people being near her and her foal!" "That's a beautiful name Theo!" I said, watching the filly, the name fit perfectly.
