Mary Anne: "Hoedown sounds excellent to me!" I interjected, secretly very pleased that the romantic-sounding Speckled Hen Oveture would be for the ball itself.
Ms. Picky: "Sooooo, after you arrange yourselves into the staggerred four-five grouping, I want a syncronized lateral gait to the right, a 180-degree pivot, then a lateral gait back to the left. Holding hands the whole time." I smirked, thinking how much of a creative genius I was-- provided that the riders and their various and sundry mounts could handle the routine.

Sydney: Ok, I was a serious event rider, Dressage was one of my events. But this was going to be harder than any Dressage test I'd EVER been through. I peered around June's graceful neck to look at her face. She seemed to be thinking the same thing I was. Yipes! I looked at Mary Anne with my eyebrow raised, "This should be interesting..."

Trillium: I stifled a snort. I hoped that Ms. Picky didn't expect us to get that all right on the first try! even with my shotgun intensive dressage course, it would be nigh impossible to keep my fingers neatly balanced on Justin's palm as our horses took turn cantering in circles around each other, while trotting sideways!
Katlie: "Okay. Umm. I suppose we'll just try that." i directed the girls into groups. "Ready when you are. shall we practice to music? there are portable speakers in the barn."

Sydney: "I like the sound of that." I replied, "Can I give you a hand?" I asked preparing to dismount.

KAtie: "Sure! I those skirts are more trouble than they appear from horseback." i swung off of Tink's broad back, glad to be in the freedom of my jodphurs, and gave Sydney a hand down from the saddle. "The rest of you riders, start, preparing for some lateral moves!" i called back as we headed for the barn.
Arin: "Now i'm super glad that i chose Blackthorne instead of Fly!" i exclaimed, to everyone in earshot. "With FLying colors wouldn't take kindly to fancy prancy dressage. i can just imagine her taking off in the middle of a complex pattern, and messing up all the other horses!"

Sydney: I hopped down from June's back and handed the reins to Mary Anne and quickly caught up with Katie. "How long is the grand entrance supposed to be?" I asked Katie. The reason I asked is because, even at night, when riding a horse (particularly in a ball gown) one has a tendency to get hot. What means get sweaty which really takes the romance out of dancing close to someone you very well may like very much be in love with.

OOC: Oooooh, Sydney admits it! very nice, very nice. Ms. Picky: "Not more than three and a half minutes, i should think, Miss Bristow. You will all have a full night of socializing, dancing, and representing your stable ahead of you, so our goal is to make this as spectacular as possible with as little effort as necessary. Now, shall we?" I said as the riders lined up. Mary Anne: "I really, truly hope that we can nail this tonight!" I whispered to Sydney as we waited for the music to start up, Piper dancing with anticipation. The guy was a real showman, and he loved the sound of music that wasn't too fast or too slow to fit with dressage moves.

Katie: "All right, ladies, one more time!" i waved my hands for all of us to assemble- Miley and Alex, though, were still at Berryhill- and we fell into formation. Surprisingly, this went off without a hitch. "Hoedown" had a natural beat, and it was much easier having practiced the routine. "We might actually look amazing tonight!" I crowed happily.
Trillium: I patted Pandora's neck gratefully as we finished the first sequence. "You make me look good, girl!" i whispered into one of her shining black ears.

OOC: Thanks ;D
Sydney: "I know we can!" I whispered back to Mary Anne, silently praying that I was right. I knew June wasn't a dressage horse, but she was moving so gracefully I might as well had been riding a gray feather instead of a gray horse. The entire group moved through the pattern effortlessly, we looked like we'd practiced for years, not hours. As we continued to ride through the 'course' Ms.Picky had planned for us I began to feel excited & not just nervous about the evening to follow.

Miley:
i loped Dream into the barn and down the aisleway. Alex was back and grooming her new mare. Alex pointed towards the office. i dismounted and nodded my head towards Dream. Alex nodded her head. i gave her a thumbs up and walked towards the office. "Miley, you will need Tempo." Alex said and she walked into Tempo's stall and withdrew the stallion already saddled. i grabbed the reins and led him towards the arena. "Katie!?!?" i called and then saw the girls in the arena getting ready to ride to music. oh no![i/] i didnt know a single thing. and there was Miss Picky. oh no. im dead.

Milly: As we had been practicing my eyes had practically stayed glued to the doorway. When I saw Miley and her look of panic I had a moment of genius. "Mrs. Pickman, I need to use the necessary." I said and at her nod I moved my reins and I trotted Lyna out of the areana toward Miley, I thought I saw Katie smile a bit at my antics and grinned. "Follow me. I'll show you the movements." I whispered to Miley as I went past. I trotted to areana on the other side of the barn and waited for Miley to follow.

Milly: "Okay she told us that we will have our hands like this with our partner." I said showing her with my own hands. "And then we have to sidesaddle of course." I said and turned in the saddle waiting for her to do so also. "And now we ride to some music, which is a song called Hoedown something. Like so." I said and nudged Lyra forward. "It's sort of hard."

Sydney: I helped Katie haul out the speakers and returned to June & Mary Anne. "This is going to be great!" I said smiling as I mounted June.

Miley:
i copied Milly. Tempo easily kept the pace and he kept his gate steady so i wouldnt fall out of the saddle. i patted him on the neck as he nickered to Lyra. Tempo danced around the arena, never missing a step. his long curly tail swung along with his steady gate and his forelock bumped up and down. his ears back listening to my commands. his nostrils slightly flared taking in air and his hazel eyes glazed over. his steel grey eyelids and white black eyelashes lay half way over his eyes like he was just about to fall asleep. when we stopped and Lyra came to stand next to him. he tucked his head in, pointed his ears forward, opened his eyes, lifted his tail and pranced in place. dancing for her. i giggled. once he stopped it seemed like Lyra was giggling too. Tempo reached his head over to her and nudged her muzzle.
